Textile Collection

Joel Garten’s grandfather, Stephen (Istvan) Reiss, started to Ronitex Textile Mill in Paterson, New Jersey.  Garten has collected textiles around the world, and they are an inspiration to his music.

“I feel that the hand made quality of a lot of textiles is reflected in my music.  The way the edges of the design of an ikat fabric don’t line up is inspirational to me, it reflects the freedom I feel in my music to be loose and not a perfectionist.” – Joel Garten

Here are some excerpts from Joel Garten’s textile collection.
